Harrison Labs Traveling Wave Generator™ (TWG) | Dynamic Phase Animation Processor
Give static electronic audio signals the natural movement, depth, and dimensionality of live acoustic sound. The Traveling Wave Generator™ (TWG) is a dual-channel phase animator that continuously and independently shifts the phase relationship between channels, breaking up the fixed, “locked-in” imaging of a static stereo signal and replacing it with the kind of subtle, ongoing movement found in real acoustic spaces.
Because phase is one of the primary cues the ear uses to judge direction and space, continuously varying it — rather than leaving it fixed — makes a sound source feel less like two pinned points and more like it’s filling the room. The TWG performs impressively as a standalone unit, and achieves even more immersive results when paired with an ambience/reverb processor such as the DSP Ambience Processor™.
Applications
• Home audio & 2-channel systems — Widens the stereo soundstage and reduces the fatigue of a static, pinpoint image over long listening sessions.
• Critical listening rooms & studios — Enhances perceived spaciousness in a reference system independent of EQ or tonal adjustments.
• Theaters & auditoriums — Helps reinforced sound feel less mechanically fixed to speaker locations, adding ambience and envelopment across a larger listening area.
• Performance spaces & houses of worship — Adds dimensionality to amplified sound.
• Any RCA-based audio system — Anywhere a static or synthetic source would benefit from added movement and depth.
